Students interested in pre-health programs should considering completing SAT or ACT testing at some point during their senior year of high school. While test scores are not required for admission to Stevenson, some graduate health programs use SAT or ACT test scores as part of their application process. International freshman applicants whose native language is not English must submit the TOEFL or IELTS. More information on international student application requirements and recommendations are available on the Admissions Requirements page.
Testing Policy FAQs:
Will I still be considered for merit-based awards and specialty scholarships if I apply test-optional?
Yes. Applicants are automatically considered for merit-based awards as long as they submit the application by February 1. The priority consideration deadline is December 1. Stevenson鈥檚 specialty scholarships require an additional process which could include a separate application and/or interview. Many specialty scholarships also have a GPA eligibility requirement. Will I still be considered for admission into Nursing and Biomedical Engineering if I apply test-optional?
Yes. Admission for Stevenson鈥檚 Nursing and Biomedical Engineering programs is competitive and is based on a review of all application materials. Acceptance into the University does not guarantee admission into the Nursing or Biomedical Engineering programs.
Will I still be considered for Stevenson鈥檚 Honors Program if I apply test-optional?
Yes. Typically, the top 10% of the freshman class is invited to participate in the Honors Program. If invited to participate, students are notified in their acceptance letter.
Self-Reported Scores
The fall 2021 freshman application process is test-optional. Applicants may self-report scores as part of their application if they choose.

If a student is submitting scores as part of there application, there are two ways for students to self-report their scores:
- Include your scores in the testing section of the or Stevenson鈥檚 online application.
- Send a screenshot of your scores from your collegeboard.org or act.org account or send a photo of your paper student score report(s) to admissions@stevenson.edu. The e-mail should include your full name and mailing address to ensure we can match your scores to your application.
If you choose to enroll at Stevenson, we will require an official score report verifying your self-reported scores by July 15. Admissions will verify scores for those enrolling and any inconsistency could result in your offer being rescinded. Official score reports can come from the College Board, ACT, or via communication from your high school counselor.
Superscoring
Test scores are not required for fall 2021 freshman applicants. If a student chooses to submit scores as part of their application, the Admissions Office will use the following superscoring standards:
For the SAT we will use the highest Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math scores in reviewing your application regardless of the dates on which those high scores were earned.
For the ACT we will use the highest Composite score available. We do not superscore the sections of the ACT.
For students who present both SAT and ACT scores, we will use the approved concordance tables to determine the best score (superscored SAT or highest available ACT composite) and will use that score in our review.
