Isabella Maxey
Business Communication

Self-proclaimed lover of all things creative, Baltimore-based Filipina Isabella Maxey ‘21 took off into the life of a jet-setting marketing expert shortly after receiving her bachelor’s degree in Business Communication.

Isabella wore many hats while at Stevenson, a hallmark of her major: “With Business Communication, some of the time you’re a journalist, other times you’re a graphic designer, and others you’re a PR representative. It’s having the choice to do whatever you want that made me really enjoy it,” Isabella says.

Point proven: Isabella held multiple internships during her years at Stevenson to hone her skills in a variety of fields. She interned at Allied Global Marketing, a full-service integrated marketing agency, where she worked with numerous studios such as Netflix, Disney Pixar, Amazon, and Focus Features, as well as the esteemed public relations powerhouse Edie Brown and Associates, where she helped put on events such as Disney On Ice and Monster Truck Jam at the Baltimore Arena. Additionally, she interned with Cornerstone Community Housing and Whiting-Turner Contracting concurrently.

Outside of the grind of internships, the daily responsibilities of serving as a Resident Assistant on campus, and being part of the first Leadership Scholar’s cohort, Isabella enjoyed volunteering, roller skating, and writing and publishing original music in her free time.

A week after graduating from Stevenson, Isabella was hired as the Community Marketing Coordinator at Resonate Recordings, a podcast production company. She has created podcasts for companies such as Twitter and Colgate that have hit the number-one spot on streaming platforms, and she also manages marketing campaigns, designs promotional materials, oversees social media, and is flown out to different states and countries to represent the company as a video personality—from Louisville, Ky. to London, England.

“Business Communication was a broad major that wasn’t offered anywhere else and gave me a lot of wiggle room to decide what it is I wanted to do. The communication skills I have found from the department at ÀÏÍõÂÛ̳ are invaluable. I would not have had such an interpersonal opportunity to get to know my professors and engage with a closer community at a much bigger school.”
